Removing the acne scars

While acne affects only about 90% of young people, only a small majority of those affected suffer from acne scars. But those who have scars often seek methods of acne scar removal that work to eliminate or reduce scarring. Fortunately, there are many ways for removing acne scars.

The removal of acne scars by dermabrasion is a method. The upper layers of skin are removed with the aid of a machine that rubs the skin in the process. While dermabrasion leaves your skin appear smoother, it is not 100% effective for removal of acne scars.

Chemical peels are another way to take away the scars of acne. It works much similar to dermabrasion, but chemicals are used instead of machines. But, this is not 100% effective for acne scars removal; it just makes the skin smoother.

Other technique for removal of acne scars is collagen injections. These injections are usually used for scars, and wrinkles treatment. The injections are usually costly, and are repeated regularly. This is another technique of removal of acne scars that does not totally remove the scars, but just makes them not so apparent.

A procedure drastic acne scar removal is the transplantation of autologous fat. It is a process where fat is removed from other parts of your body and injected into your skin. It does not deliberate you of scars. But, it fills the places such as those which are characteristic of acne scars. Again, this is a radical method of acne scar removal, and the process will need to repeat that the fat is absorbed by the body.

Another drastic acne scar removal technique is punch grafts. It is a process in which small flap of skin removed and used to replace scarred skin. This technique of acne scars removal is typically used to correct for deep acne scars.

The most recent – and seemingly most effective – acne scar removal technique with a laser skin resurfacing. It is a process where the acne scar skin is lightly sprayed with the use of a laser. Once the damaged skin evaporates, the new – not cured – skin underneath is visible. Local anesthesia is given to small areas, but for removing face full of acne scars, the person is usually administered with anesthetic through an I.V. by an anesthesiologist sedated.
