Army releases November suicide data

The Army released suicide data today for the month of November. Among Ative Duty Soldiers, there were 11 potential suicides: none have been confirmed as suicides, and 11 remain under investigation. For October, the Army reported nine potential suicides among Active Duty Soldiers. Since the release of that report, two have been confirmed as suicides, and seven remain under investigation.

During November 2010, among Reserve Component Soldiers who were not on Active Duty, there were five potential suicides: none have been confirmed as suicides, and all five remain under investigation. For October, among that same group, there were 17 potential suicides. Continue reading…

What is Creatine?

Creatine is made up of the amino acids arginine, glycine and L-methionine, which are synthesized in the liver and kidneys. Some creatine is obtained naturally from meat and fish in the diet, particularly those containing high levels such as beef, tuna and herring though some is destroyed when meat is cooked. An average human has approximately 120 grams of creatine in the body at any one time and this is broken down into creatinine at the rate of 2 grams a day and excreted by the kidneys.

Creatine is stored in the muscles of the body and is used to produce energy for muscle contraction.

Jane Fonda takes a firm stance on senior fitness

Even at 72, Jane Fonda has a better body than you. But she didn’t come out of retirement to brag. Instead, “Walk Out” and “Fit & Strong” — the first two titles in her new “Primetime” series of exercise DVDs — target seniors who need a push to stay active in order to stave off physical and mental problems. “The worst thing that can happen is people thinking, ‘I can’t do bicep curls with the weight I used to, so why do it?’ It doesn’t have to be extreme,” says Fonda, who’s scaled back but has no intention of giving up.
